It Was More Than Just A Medal
CROWNING GLORY: Being a member of the US Olympic Jet-Ski Team was a real accomplishment, and receiving a participation medal was a great honor.
PROUD MOMENT: Performing in front of several hundred thousand people at the Opening Ceremonies Stadium was surreal. Standing there as they raised my USA flag & played the national anthem was a moment that I will truly never forget.
DEVASTATING FALLOUT: But those "glory days" were not so glorious after all - when it lead to a near-death experience that traumatized my health and nearly destroyed my life.
FLAWED MEDICAL SCHOOLS: Our Medical Schools do not teach Doctors about mold illness, or environmental toxins. So, rather than helping me, they harmed me and are harming countless others.
It was The First Domino to Fall
THE DOMINO EFFECT: Looking back, I can see so clearly now how everything unfolded with 1 single event. The flu.
I stayed home to recover, but rather than getting better, I got worse. Much worse & remained sick for months.
MERRY-GO-ROUND MEDICINE: Despite my best efforts to get to an evidence-based diagnosis, I got NOWHERE.
I WAS INCURABLE: Everyone said I had Autoimmune Illness (Epstein Barr Virus, MCAS, MCS, Cytomegalovirus, Mononucleosis, Hashimoto's, Osteoarthritis, etc.) You name it, I had it. Yet they said there was NOTHING that they could do for me.
I WAS INCURABLE: "Go home & get some rest," they said, but all that did was to make things WORSE, because it put me right back into the environment that was making me sick in the first place. I just didn't know it ... and that's what eventually lead me to waking up from my first knee surgery to hear the words, "I'm sorry, but we couldn't fix you." From that point on, my life began to spiral out of control & everything changed. Nothing would be the same again.
I was stuck.
And it seemed like there was ...
NO WAY OUT !!
I WAS GIVEN NO HOPE: My life (as I knew it) came to a screeching halt that day ... and everything literally STOPPED. I could not walk. I could not work. And I could not drive. At that moment, I realized I had an urgent need to become my own best advocate and learn "How To" better navigate through the medical maze. I could no longer trust my Doctors. I needed to gain control over my own health and make better healthcare decisions. From that moment on, my life took a turn & I became focused on simplifying healthcare navigation & detoxification.
I WAS GIVEN NO HELP: This experience ignited a deep conviction in me to expose the hidden dangers & destruction of a broken Healthcare System ... and to warn others about what could possibly go wrong if they didn't get it right. My 1st botched knee surgery served as a harsh wake-up call for me, leaving me with an unshakeable determination that I had to find a better way to manage my own medical affairs. And I had to find a way to warn others about how bad it was & make sure NOBODY else suffered like I did or experienced the same kind of healthcare horrors.
I Was Supposed to be Okay
But I ... WASN'T !!
TERRIFYING MOMENTS: Waking up from surgery to hear the shocking news that I was NOT okay was bad, but being told I would need yet another far more serious surgery was devastating to me. Because of their mistake, I lost 2 year's time to fix the damage they had done. But even after all that, I still continued to struggle with my health.
BLIND FAITH: It was then that had I the profound realization that I left all of my medical decisions up to my Doctors. I trusted them blindly and all that did was to get me into serious trouble and lead me down a path of total devastation & destruction.
BECOMING A SELF-ADVOCATE: Recognizing the need for Self-Advocacy, I embarked on a journey to learn "How To" better advocate for myself and gain the knowledge & skills I needed in order to take control over my health.
